Shade in Tea

When you drive to Upper Assam, the world famous tea growing tract, along the National Highway, miles after miles you will see tea gardens one after another on either side of the highway. You will see a green carpet of tea bushes (during growing season) and systematically grown lines of some trees. And you will feel a cooling effect. The trees which are interplanted in tea gardens are shade trees.You will see similar scene in other parts of N.E. India. In South India,Sri Lanka, Indonesia or even in African tea growing tracts you can see some trees growing in the tea plantations. However, you will not find such shade trees in Japan, Russia Iran or some other such countries.
