Tea Seed Bug
Tea seed bug (Poecilocoris latus Dall) is the most destructive pest in tea seed barie which causes premature fall of seeds or produces unviable seeds. The bug sucks the sap of the seed cotyledons as a result of which a whitish patch develops and the attacked seeds do not attain maturity and fall off. If the attack by the seed bug is in the later stage of the seed formation, the seeds shrivel up (shrink) or become cheesy, while others become rotten as a result of saprophytic fungi or weak fungal parasites.
