The tea industry in Zimbabwe in concentrated in two areas of the Eastern Highlands bordering Mozambique. These are Chipinga and Inyanga. The Chipinge district contains Ratelshoek, Jersey, Zona, Avontur, New Year’s Gift, Rosscoimmon and Clearwater estates. Several of the estates are continuing to expand their tea areas as well as replanting of older seedling areas.Recently there has been an attempt to develop a small holder sector in the Risitu Valley within the district.The other area where tea is grown is the Honde Valley in Inyanga district. The tea areas lie between 180 and 250 S latitudes. Planting is done between 800 m and 1100 m elevation. Mostly Assam type tea is grown in Zimbabwe.
