The sudden and unprecedented expansion of audio and audio-visual media has transformed the landscape of the broadcast media industry. This transformative trend is particularly visible in the North-East of India. Over the past three years, numerous private television news and entertainment channels, as well as FM Radio channels, have emerged. This surge has generated an increasing demand for well-trained professionals to effectively manage and operate these media organisations.Notably, there is a scarcity of institutions providing training in the broadcast field. Recognising this gap, the university has introduced the one-year PG Diploma programme in Broadcast Journalism. The main aim is to address the industry's growing need for skilled professionals in the realm of broadcast journalism in the dynamically evolving media landscape of the country
