Electronic Media Production Centre
Since its establishment in 2006, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU) has been dedicated to disseminating education through diverse learning methods, emphasising flexibility. As an open and distance learning institution, KKHSOU utilises a flexible education model that incorporates both print and non-print formats. Recognising the significance of educational technology in bridging the gap between distance learners and teachers, the university established the Multimedia Course Material Centre.
The primary objective of this Centre is to provide easily accessible, high-quality higher education and training by leveraging the latest educational inputs and technology. The inherent flexibility in terms of learning pace, location, and evaluation methods ensures equal opportunities for higher education, including reaching the deprived and underserved sections of society.
The Multimedia Course Material Centre has evolved into the Electronic Media Production Centre, reflecting its commitment to not only serve learners but also the broader community. The Centre aims to establish itself as a knowledge hub by developing socially relevant programmes featuring contributions from noted personalities across various fields. In alignment with this vision, the Centre has been upgraded to a full-fledged production hub.
The Electronic Media Production Centre oversees the creation of weekly educational radio programmes broadcasted through All India Radio, as well as TV programmes telecasted through local TV channels. Additionally, the Centre produces audio learning materials tailored for visually impaired learners within the university.
Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, the Centre boasts a well-equipped studio featuring High-Definition broadcast-quality cameras such as Panasonic AG-CX10 (4K), Nikon D5600, and Sony HVR Z1 Camera. Audio equipment includes Sennheiser EW 112P G4 Lavalier microphone, portable audio recorders like Zoom 6N (6 tracks) and Zoom H1N, along with a Sony ICD-UX 533f Voice recorder. For video editing, graphic design, and post-production, the Centre utilises Final Cut Pro software and Adobe Creative Suite, loaded on both Mac and Windows platforms.
In essence, the EMPC at KKHSOU plays a crucial role in advancing the university's commitment to accessible and quality education, utilisinglatest technologies and innovative approaches to reach a diverse learner base and contribute to thesociety as a whole.
