The world Radio Day is celebrated on 13th February each year internationally. As a part of this International Day, the University took the initiative to organize a free health check-up at one of its adopted villages “Ganapati” on February 11th 2024. The camp was jointly organized by the Electronic Media Production Centre (EMPC) and Mother Teresa Social Welfare Mission of the University in association with Sanjibani Sangha, the Lady Doctors’ Association, Gauhati Medical College (GMCH) Guwahati. The health check-up camp saw over a 112 individuals, including children and women in various ages, undergo health check-up. A team of 18 women specialists from different departments like Pediatric, Gynecology, Nephrology, Medicine etc. from Gauhati Medical College were present in the camp. They diagnosed the attendees and provided free medication according to their ailments and also prescribed further treatment if necessary. Free medicines such as multi- vitamins, liver tonic, sanitary pads, general flue and illness, children kits were also provided to all the attendees. Page 2 The whole event was initiated by Dr. Bhabaranjan Sarmah, Director (i/c) EMPC and Dr. Sangeeta Kakoty, Dy. Director, EMPC. The other members of the University present were Ankur Jyoti Barman, Ritu Gogoi, Jugasmita Sharma, Hariculich Kochari, Pranajit Deka Kushal Medhi. The President of the Sanjeevani Sangha and the Head of the Department of Nephrology of Guwahati Medical College, Professor Dr. Manjuri Sharma, professor Dr. Mauchumi Saikia Pathak, and various specialist doctors from other departments such as Dr. Gayatri Pegu, Dr. Ayesha Choudhury, Dr. Angelia Khaubung, Dr. Alpona Deka, Dr. Farha Barua, Dr. Ananya Goswami, Dr. Priyanka Vaishya, Dr. Niharika Phukan, Dr. Priyanka Saha, Dr. Sampriti Pal, Dr. Nandita Das, Dr. Vaylina Barua, Dr. Anisha Daulagapu, and Dr. Dharmi Baruah provided their valuable services. With this programme, a strong bond between the village and the University was established. As no such type of events had been organized before, the villagers were elated. They were satisfied and benefited greatly and they expressed the need for more community related programme in future.
