On April 26th, 2023, a popular talk titled “What Makes a Human Being Valuable? Debates and Dimensions” was orchestrated by the Discipline of Philosophy, in collaboration with the Centre for Internal Quality Assurance (CIQA) at KKHSOU. Laxmikanta Padhi, a distinguished professor and former Head of the Department at the West Bengal University's Department of Philosophy, was invited as the resource person for this eminent discourse. The event commenced with inauguration by Dr. Bhaskar Bhattacharya, the Head of the Discipline of Philosophy at KKHSOU, in the presence of the Vice Chancellor and other eminent faculty members of the university.
Professor Padhi adeptly delineated the subject matter from both Western and Indian philosophical paradigms, drawing upon seminal texts such as the Mahabharata and Ramayana to elucidate the concept of dharma. His erudite discourse encompassed a comprehensive exploration of human values, morality, and ethics, fostering a profound understanding among the attendees. The culmination of the lecture witnessed engaging interactions between the esteemed speaker and the faculty members, enriching the intellectual ambiance of the gathering. Subsequent to the interactive session, the proceedings were gracefully concluded with a convivial refreshment, accompanied by an expression of gratitude towards all participants.
