Dr. Pranab Saikia, Professor of Education has been working at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Guwahati since 16th February, 2017. Presently, he is the Director of Indira Miri School of Education and also serving as the Director of the Centre for Online Education. Additionally,he is the Dean, Study Centre (i/c) of the University who looks after the affairs of all study centres located all the state of Assam. Prof. Saikia started his teaching career as a Lecturer in Post Graduate
Teachers’ Training College, Lakhimpur, Assam from 1st August, 2006. He has vast experience working as a teacher in higher education across the north-eastern states like Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Assam. Prof. Saikia has been actively engaged in teaching, training, research and skill development activities. He has the diverse academic and administrative experience working as a the Principal Coordinator of the D.El.Ed. Programme, Project Implementing Officer of Assamese Children’s Literature Project and Coordinator of the Banikanta Kakati Research Institute, KKHSOU. He took the responsibility of the Director, CIQA of KKHSOU and was instrumental in conducting the 1st cycle of NAAC assessment and accreditation in December, 2022. Prof. Saikia conducted many
national seminars/workshops funded by UGC, New Delhi, ICSSR, New Delhi, NCW, New Delhi, CEMCA, New Delhi and NCERT, New Delhi. He conducted many programmes on life skills, legal awareness for girls and gender equity programmes for college students in collaboration with RGNIYD, Tamil Nadu and NCW, New Delhi. He also conducted minor and major research projects which were funded by KKHSOU, Guwahati, ICSSR, New Delhi and CEMCA, New Delhi. Along with his regular academic publication in the form of research papers in different journals and edited books,  Prof. Saikia regularly writes on diverse topics for Assam's Assamese and English newspapers. He is a recognized Ph. D. Guide of KKHSOU and IGNOU (for M.Ed. and MA in Education). Presently, he is a
member of the Board of Management and Academic Council of the University.
