Course Details
This course is offered both for Major and Pass courses. The course aims at enabling the learners to have an overall theoretical understanding of certian fundamental concepts of political existence and acquaint them in the actual dynamics of the political processes and events at various levels of political life. Accordingly, the learners will be able to gain an understanding of some key concepts such as the meaning of Political Science and politics, various approaches to the study of Political Science, state, sovereignty, public administration, politics in India, etc. Over and above these topics, the learners opting for the Major course will get an insight into some very important areas, such as, international politics, political systems of some select countries, contemporary political issues, political thought, human rights and political development in Assam, the latter intended to impart knowledge of political events taking place at o more local level.

Eligibility
A. 10+2 or equivalent examination passed (in any stream, including Vocational Stream) from a Council/University recognised by UGC.
B. Three-year Diploma passed from Polytechnics in any branch.
A learner who wants to pursue a major in any course needs to study an elective of the respective course in 1st and 2nd semester. For example, a learner who wants to opt for English or Assamese major have to study elective English or elective Assamese as elective subjects in 1st and 2nd semester.

Total Programme Fees:
₹ 3850 X 8 semesters = ₹ 30800 + ₹ 1200 (Project Fee in 8th semester)

- Political Science can be opted as an optional subject in various competitive examinations conducted for recruitment to posts under both the State and Central Governments.
- Political Science also helps learners gain a theoretical understanding of various socio-economic issues. The knowledge gained would help the learners to explore job opportunities in the NGO sector.
