The boom in the media industry has invited the attention of everyone related to the print media. The sudden and unprecedented expansion of the audio and audio-visual media has put the broadcast media industry on a new scenario. This is not different even in the North-East of India. The recent years have seen the entry of several private television news and entertainment channels as well as FM Radio channels. This has given rise to a growing demand for trained professionals to run these organisations. Institutions offering training in the broadcast field are very few. Therefore, the University introduced this one-year Diploma programme in Broadcast Journalism, which is first of its kind in the whole North- East of India. After successfully completing this programme, the learners shall be able to get employment opportunities in the media industry of the region or the country.
