Course Details
The DLIS programme at KKHSOU serves as a comprehensive introduction to Library and Information Science, providing learners with a profound understanding of the field's evolution within the context of libraries and emerging technologies. Upon successful completion of this programme, learners can pursue diverse career opportunities in library and information-related roles across various sectors, including museums, colleges, universities, IITs/NITs, banking, industrial sectors, and other areas where information management is pivotal.Structured as a one-year programme, the Diploma in Library and Information Science (DLIS) encompasses five compulsory courses, incorporating practical components. Each course is evaluated with 100 marks, comprising 80 marks for the Term End examination and 20 marks for Internal Assessment, including assignments and viva voce.
As part of the programme, every learner undergoes a 15-day apprenticeship, equivalent to a minimum of 100 hours, at a provincialised college library, public library, district library, or sub-divisional library. This hands-on experience provides practical exposure and enriches the learning journey, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for the dynamic and information-centric roles in the professional landscape of Library and Information Science.
Eligibility
10+2 or equivalent examination passed (in any stream) from a Council/University recognised by UGC.
