Sociology
Dr. Gargi Gayan is an Assistant Professor of Sociology with core research interests in Pedagogy, Medicine and Health, gender studies, identity politics, development discourse, and subaltern theory. She has received her doctoral degree from Jawaharalal Nehru University, New Delhi. Her doctoral thesis , explored how the macro structures, entangled histories and the lived realities of students belonging to vulnerable sections of society stands in contrast with the expections of the existing teaching-learning contexts impacting the learning outcome.Over the years, Dr. Gayan has contributed to both teaching and research, having presented her findings at a range of national and international conferences and published articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Apart from teaching and research, at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University she has been involved in the preparation and development SLM (Self Learning Material) of the following courses:
