Course Details

Philosophy, as an integral academic discipline within the higher education system, assumes a pivotal role in unleashing the latent power of reasoning inherent in human beings. It serves as a guiding force in regulating human thinking and conduct. The study of Philosophy facilitates the exploration of fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, values, reason, mind, and language. This academic pursuit not only broadens the intellectual horizons but also nurtures critical thinking skills essential for navigating the complexities of human existence. By offering Philosophy as a subject in both Pass and Major courses, the University contributes to the holistic development of learners, fostering a deeper understanding of the principles that underlie rational thought and ethical decision-making.

 

Eligibility

A. 10+2 or equivalent examination passed (in any stream, including Vocational Stream) from a Council/University recognised by UGC.

B. Three-year Diploma passed from Polytechnics in any branch.

A learner who wants to pursue a major in any course needs to study an elective of the respective course in 1st and 2nd semester. For example, a learner who wants to opt for English or Assamese major have to study elective English or elective Assamese as elective subjects in 1st and 2nd semester.

Documents to be enclosed:

Copies of marksheets and pass certificate of qualifying examination (10+2/P.U./Diploma)

Fees (at the time of admission for 1st semester):

₹ 3,850

Total Programme Fees:

₹ 3850 X 8 semesters = ₹ 30800 + ₹ 1200 (Project Fee in 8th semester)
