Dr.Neeva Rani Phukan (Triple MA) teaches as an Associate Professor in the discipline of Assamese,Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University,Guwahati.She has been awarded Ph.D. in 2009 for her work RABHA LITTERATEURS AND THEIR LITERARY CONTRIBUTION:A CRITICAL STUDY by Gauhati University.She has successfully supervised two research scholars to the completion of their PhDs, reflecting her commitment to academic mentorship and research excellence. She has been a recipient of Junior Research Fellowship from the Department of Culture, Government of India. She is a member of the Assamese Board of K.K.Birla Foundation (Saraswati Samman) and also Life Member of Assam Sahitya Sabha-the Apex Literary Body of Assam. She is a freelance writer and translator, writing extensively both in Assamese and English.She has to her credit (1) The Course of Chennab (English translation of Jnanpith Awardee Dr. Indira Goswami's Assamese novel Chenabor Xot (2) Ekhon Moliyon Chador (Assamese translation of Rajendar Singh Bedi's Sahitya Akademi award-winning Urdu novel Ek Chadar Maili Si), (3) Diverse Perspectives of Rabha Short Story, (4) Focus on the Rabhas Language, Literature and Culture (ed), (5) Rabha Social Rites and Customs, (6) A Fiery Journey (English translation of Kanaksen Deka's Assamese novel Stangun Huwe Bane, (7) Exploring Society Life & Culture (ed) and (8)Pachatya Chutigolpor Ruprekha (An analytical discourse of Western Short Stories). Her creative endeavour is also accomplished with a number of research papers presented and published in National and International seminars, conferences and UGC Care Listed journals. She is also a regular columnist in Dainik Agradoot-a vernacular news daily.
