Prof. Prasenjit Das CV

Being an academician to the core, his professional journey has been driven by a deep-seated commitment to translating ideas into tangible goals and outcomes. Over the past fifteen  years at Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University, he has been actively contributing to academic life by engaging in teaching, research, and institutional development. His core strength lies in visualising thoughts and transforming them into actionable academic practices that align with the ethos of open and distance learning (ODL). As part of his commitment to lifelong learning and knowledge dissemination, he has consistently published on a wide range of topics that span both traditional and emerging areas in literary studies and ODL pedagogy.

As part of his research, he has particularly invested in adopting interdisciplinary approaches that connect literature with contemporary social, environmental, and technological concerns. His works also encompass the assessment of ODL contours in Literary Studies and critically evaluate the interface between literature and society. He is especially interested in the emerging domain of Environmental Humanities, which offers a fertile ground for understanding ecological consciousness in literature. His research approach not only interrogates canonical texts through modern lenses but also promotes the inclusion of marginal voices and alternative narratives in the academic discourses.

As a faculty member in an open university, he is both an educator and an activist, committed to widening the horizons of higher education. KKHSOU’s learner-centric model has provided him with the opportunity to work closely with aspiring learners—many of whom are first-generation students or those who have re-entered the academic sphere after a gap. In this context, his role extends beyond conventional academic responsibilities to include the mentoring and supervision of research scholars. His academic mission continues to evolve as he seeks new ways to bridge the gap between scholarship and society, theory and praxis, and knowledge and empowerment.
