Introduction to Regional Centre of KKHSOU, Jorhat
The Jorhat Regional Centre of Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University was established in December 2013 under the Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University Act, 2005, amended up to 2009 by Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University Act, 2009. According to the said Act, “Regional Centre” means a centre established or maintained by the University for the purpose of coordinating and supervising the works of Study Centres in any region and for performing such other functions as may be conferred on such centres by the Board of Management.”
The current office premise of the Regional Centre is located in AT Road, Tarajan area of Jorhat town. It is situated at a distance of 1.5 km from the Inter State Bus Terminal, Jorhat and 3.0 km from Jorhat Town Railway Station. The jurisdiction and activities of the Regional Centre are spread across seven districts of Upper Assam viz., Golaghat, Jorhat, Majuli, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Dibrugarh and Tinsukia with 69 study Centres functioning at present.
