Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University organised its fifth convocation in the City Office of the University at Resham Nagar, Khanapara on 2nd February, 2023. His Excellency the Governor of Assam and the Chancellor of the University Professor Jagdish Mukhi conferred the degrees and diplomas to the awardees. Professor D. P. Agarwal, a renowned academician, former Chairperson of Union Public Service Commission and the former Director of Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management, Gwalior, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. A total of 1015 learners took part in the Convocation. Altogether 9547 learners were awarded their degrees and diplomas in this Convocation including 15 PhDs, 6 MPhils, 2788 Post Graduates, 6083 Under Graduates and 655 Post Graduate Diplomas. Besides, 17 learners were conferred University Gold Medals for being the toppers in their respective fields of study. A certificate of recognition was also awarded to the senior-most learner Shri Dandi Nath Rabha, who was over 75 years of age, for com- pleting MA in Assamese in 2021 from Dudhnoi College Study Centre. In keeping with University's commitment of reaching the unreached, nine learners from jails and eight differently abled learners were awarded degrees in the Convocation. Notably, Shri Sanjib Talukdar, an inmate of Central Jail, Guwahati received the Uni- versity Gold Medal for being the topper in MA in Sociology in the year 2021.
