On the occasion of International Women’s Day (March 8, 2024), KKHSOU celebrated the day with the inauguration of the University Wall Magazine by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajendra Prasad Das in the first phase. Faculties, staffs, learners, research scholars, Alumnis have contributed their creative writings and art work for this Wall Magazine. The inauguration was attended by the Registrar i/c, Prof. Pranjit Bora, Directors of different Schools, officials and staffs from the University along with the learners. After the formal inauguration, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Das gave a brief speech on the significance of the day and expressed his hope that the University will attain new heights as the majority of the staff members the University are women. This was followed by a short speech by the Registrar i/c Prof. Bora.

In the second phase, an awareness session was organised among the female villages from the Hanapara village under the Rani Development Block. Among the few adopted villages of KKHSOU, Hanapara is one. For the special occasion of International Women’s Day, three resource persons namely Bobita Das (Jeevika Sakhi), Binita Rabha (SHG Member), Mina Deka (SHG Member) were invited for the programme who talked on how women in the village can form Self Help Groups and fetch sustainable livelihood avenues for themselves with the help of government schemes and credit facilities. The Jeevika Sakhi, Bobita Das, talked about the existing government schemes ad facilities for livelihood promotion ad how the SHGs can avail them. The other two resource persons shared their experiences on how they have utilized goverment support facilities and credit and have successfully created a livelihood for themselves as well as fellow women in their village. The programme was attended by around 100 participants which included women of Hanapara village, faculty members, research scholars, learners and staffs of KKHSOU. The programme was an initiative of the faculties (Dr Sukmaya Lama, Dr Sarmistha Rani Baruah, Dr Dola Borkataki in particular) along with the support of the Mother Teresa Social Welfare Mission Committee.
